The Wülfrath indoor swimming pool, located in the heart of the city center, has been expanded, modernized, and brought up to date in recent years. As part of the extensive construction work, the approximately 180 m2 outdoor terrace was given a new look with WPC decking from NaturinForm, making it usable year-round. The decisive factors in the material selection were safety, durability, and resistance to the varying climatic conditions of a heavily used outdoor space.

The Wülfrath indoor swimming pool is a magnet for water sports enthusiasts of all ages. Children and teenagers, as well as adults and seniors, use the pool for swimming, saunas, and relaxation. The indoor pool is a comfortable 25 meters long for swimming. A large panoramic glass frontage ensures excellent natural light. And since 2012, the approximately 180 m² terrace, with its new WPC flooring from NaturinForm, has been inviting visitors to relax and breathe fresh air year-round, especially between sauna sessions.

A key factor was the safety of the floor. After all, bathers should be able to walk barefoot and safely on it at any time of year – even when wet. Durability, cost-effectiveness, and durability were also on the project managers' product agenda. The visual requirements were also very precise: an attractive wood look was required that would pleasantly accentuate the open space. On the recommendation of a local timber merchant, the decision was made to use WPC decking from NaturinForm. Popular massive was installed in the color "anthracite" and in a custom length of approximately 7.20 meters. With its grooved and brushed surface, the outdoor area of the swimming pool is pleasant and safe to walk on. The area invites you to linger and relax, with a feeling of well-being underfoot.

Like wood only better suited

A key argument for choosing this material was that WPC surfaces offer excellent slip resistance even after rain or snowfall and dry quickly, as WPC absorbs less water than pure wood. "Since bathers typically walk barefoot, the patio flooring should also be non-splintering, very even, have no butt joints, and be free of screws in the walking area," Dietmar Ruda, Head of the Education and Sports Department at the City of Wülfrath, adds to the requirements profile.

They can be easily cleaned with a high-pressure cleaner, offer maximum installation safety, and comply with environmental and consumer protection regulations. Since WPC, unlike wood, does not splinter or crack even after years, another key factor is the use of this "Made in Germany" flooring in outdoor spaces that are primarily used barefoot, especially since slip resistance values of up to R13 are achieved even in wet conditions. This wood material also benefits the environment: By using only wood from German forests, sourced as waste wood from PEFC-certified suppliers, and not tropical wood species, NaturinForm decking is particularly environmentally friendly and resource-efficient.
