NaturinForm offers a 10-year guarantee on the material properties of its WPC products, which can be issued in writing as a guarantee certificate upon request at the time of delivery. Furthermore, the decking boards have been tested at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research for their resistance to wood-destroying fungi and have been rated as durability class 1 – ‘very durable’. Long-term durability requires compliance with the installation instructions.
WPC decking boards generally do not need to be painted or oiled – their polymer content makes them naturally weather-resistant and low-maintenance. However, if you do wish to treat them, NaturinForm recommends that the decking be left to weather completely first to ensure optimal adhesion.
Light soiling can be easily removed using a garden hose, a broom or a scrubbing brush and water. For heavier soiling, a high-pressure cleaner (not a steam cleaner) set to a maximum of 80 bar can be used from a distance of at least 20 cm. Cleaning products containing solvents must not be used. For stubborn stains such as grease or soot, NaturinForm recommends its specially developed biodegradable special cleaner. The decking should be cleaned at least once a year – more frequently in shaded areas or under trees. Light-coloured surfaces such as the Urbane or the Farbedition require more maintenance and cleaning.
The decking boards are fixed in place almost invisibly using specially manufactured stainless steel fixing clips. These clips ensure a secure hold whilst allowing for the necessary flexibility, so that the boards can expand or contract in response to weather conditions without putting strain on the fixings. In wet and salty environments, V4A stainless steel fixing clips are used. Thanks to this fixing system, individual boards can be easily replaced if necessary.
For specific requirements regarding the subfloor, NaturinForm refers to the detailed installation instructions, which are available in the download section of the website. As a general rule: For applications requiring building authority approval, a structurally adequate, load-bearing subfloor is necessary. Planks without building authority approval must not be used as a load-bearing structural element or as balcony decking on joists without a substructure – a structurally adequate, solid and supported substructure is required.
