Single-family house in Elsdorf
In Elsdorf, a town of 21,000 residents in the northern Rhein-Erft district between Cologne and Aachen, the Berg family recently moved into their new single-family home on an 800-square-meter plot. The two-story building, with 210 square meters of living space, was constructed using solid construction methods: the exterior walls are made of Poroton bricks, while the interior walls are made of sand-lime brick. The facade was given a brushed-finish plaster finish in a two-tone combination of white and gray, matching the window profiles and balcony parapet.
With its clear, cubic architecture, the building appears modern and timeless. Special accents are set by carefully selected materials that create visual contrasts. A striking feature is a facade element that contrasts with the rest of the rendered facade due to its materiality and color scheme. As a deliberate counterpoint to the prevailing gray and white tones, the clients opted for a ventilated, rainscreen facade made of wood composite material. They chose the Creative facade profiles in amber brown from the NaturinForm range.

Easy-care wood look for the house facade
"From the very beginning, we wanted to clad part of the house with a wooden facade," explains Detlef Berg. "It was important to us that we would have as little effort as possible in caring for and maintaining the facade over the coming years, as would be the case with, say, a wood coating," says the 49-year-old, who works as a production manager in the packaging industry. Ultimately, the choice fell on a wood composite facade material that combines the natural look of wood with high weather resistance.
Informed online – ordered from a specialist retailer
While searching for suitable curtain walls made of wood composite material, Detlef Berg came across NaturinForm online. There, he learned about the advantages of the materials as well as the various color and surface options. The family received support in the planning and implementation from friends: Project architect Torben Wirtz contributed his professional expertise to harmonize the design and spatial concept.
"After initially ordering a sample from the manufacturer and carefully examining the material, we decided on the wood composite material from NaturinForm, which our building materials dealer carries," reports Heike Berg. 60 square meters of the designerswere ultimately used on one section of the facade. As a kind of corresponding element on the floor, part of the terrace was also covered with the wood composite material Naturliniein amber brown.
Functional aesthetics with natural charm
The combination of two different wood composite products created a harmonious whole that impresses both aesthetically and functionally. Creative lends the façade an inviting, natural feel with its warm color, while Natureline offers an easy-care, durable flooring solution on the terrace. Both products boast high weather resistance, low maintenance requirements, and lasting color brilliance – all without painting or finishing.
"We are more than satisfied with our decision," summarizes Detlef Berg. "Not only does the facade look excellent, but we also have the certainty that it will remain beautiful for years to come – without the typical maintenance required for wood."
Facade work from a single source
Scheumar Baumanufaktur from Cologne was responsible for the installation of the wood composite facade cladding, the thermal insulation composite system, and the interior plastering. The exterior walls were fitted with a thermal insulation composite system and given a brushed finish. To achieve particularly high energy efficiency, a solar reflect coating was applied to create deep, dark colors.
When cladding parts of the facade with Creative from NaturinForm, the edges were precisely mitred. "We love working with wood composite materials because they offer clear advantages over conventional wood elements – especially in terms of durability and maintenance," says Wiorel Scheumar. Combining different materials in this project required particularly careful planning, which continued into the implementation. Attention to detail and precise color and technical integration of the material transitions were key aspects of the execution.
Ventilated facade made of wood composite material
Creative is a high-quality facade system with a natural wood look. Manufactured from weatherproof wood composite material, this elegant exterior cladding is suitable for both new buildings and renovation projects. During installation of the ventilated facade, the rhombus strips are installed on a wooden substructure with a tongue and groove connection. A clamp set from the accessories range is available for concealed installation.
With three different coverage sizes, Creative offers a wide range of design options: The solid rhombus profiles are available in "small" (66 mm coverage), "xl" (99 mm), and "xxl" (148 mm). They can be installed both horizontally and vertically. A combination of different sizes also enables interesting facade designs. The high-quality profiles are available in standard lengths of four and six meters, with custom lengths available upon request. Their individual wood grain and natural color gradient are available in exclusive shades such as graphite gray, oak, amber, and chestnut brown. The lightly brushed surface gives the facade a particularly elegant appearance.
When professionally installed, Creative reliably protects the exterior wall from the elements and mechanical damage. The NaturinForm range also offers stainless steel corners, which ensure clean and elegant transitions. These impact-resistant stainless steel corners also save material, as they can save approximately five centimeters per strip.
Climate-neutral, sustainable production
Sustainability and climate protection are top priorities at NaturinForm. Since November, the production of its wood composite materials has been certified as climate-neutral by TÜV NORD. The company relies exclusively on wood fibers from sustainable, PEFC-certified forestry. No additional trees are felled, as the wood fibers are a byproduct of the wood processing industry.
This makes NaturinForm products an environmentally and climate-friendly alternative to traditional wooden facades. Furthermore, the wood composite materials are 100% recyclable. At the end of their useful life, NaturinForm planks can be returned and reintroduced into the manufacturing process to conserve resources and further minimize the ecological footprint.
