Pool surround on Lake Garda, Italy
Nestled in the tranquil and enchanting natural landscape surrounding Lake Garda lies the pool of a private residence. The pool area offers unobstructed, unique views of the surrounding area and the lake. The simple yet spacious pool surround, with its adjacent sunbathing area, blends harmoniously into the surroundings.

Since the existing larch wood planks had suffered significant damage from weather and water and were showing clear signs of deterioration, in some cases extending into the subsoil, renovation was imperative. Repairing the surface would not have guaranteed a permanent solution to the problems. For a long-lasting and effective solution, the company Harobau from Cortaccia (BZ), Italy, which was commissioned to carry out the work, proposed a complete replacement of the wooden planks and recommended replacing them with a polymer-bonded wood-based decking from the German manufacturer NATURinFORM.
The wood-based plank makes unusual shapes possible
The choice fell on the "DIE KERNIGE" product line, an exceptionally durable, moisture-resistant, and chlorine-resistant solid wood plank that also impresses with its naturally beautiful wood character. The homeowners were impressed by the innovative material, which consists of approximately 70% of the finest wood fibers and 30% of an environmentally friendly polymer (PE), and is also 100% recyclable. The new pool surround has created a piece of landscaped landscaping and a beautiful private recreation area.
The project was completed within seven working days: The oval shape of the outdoor pool required installation that followed the circular contours. First, however, a new substructure – also from NATURinFORM – was installed on the concrete floor to ensure sufficient air circulation beneath the terrace and allow the concrete to "breathe." The unique NATURinFORM installation system not only ensures maximum ease of installation, but also guarantees sufficient stability of the structure and the option of subsequently replacing individual planks (e.g., in the event of damage). The planks were cut to size on site. Thanks to the easy processing of the wood-based planks using standard woodworking tools, even the oval shape of the pool posed no problems. Color-matched profile strips on both sides provide an attractive finish to the pool surround. Harobau carried out the entire surface construction – including the substructure, cutting, and installation of the wood-based planks. After completion of the work, the private house will once again have an attractive and functional outdoor pool area on an exposed hillside with a fantastic panoramic view.
Wood-based material with the quality promise “Made in Germany”
"The KERNIGE" is a polymer-bonded wood-based plank from the NATURinFORM decking range. It combines high resilience with a particularly elegant wood look. One side features a classic, finely grooved surface, while the other impresses with a wood-like grain and a lightly brushed finish. This solid plank is ideal for creating curves or transitions to gardens or paths. Chlorine- and saltwater-resistant, it meets the special requirements of pool and aquatic environments.
The blend of approximately 70% wood fibers with approximately 30% environmentally friendly polymer (PE) ensures a wealth of material-related advantages for all NATURinFORM wood-based products: They are frost- and water-resistant, high-performance and dimensionally stable, as well as shatter-proof and virtually maintenance-free. Even after years of use, they do not splinter or crack. With their brushed surfaces, the planks are extremely slip-resistant (R13) even in wet conditions and comfortable to walk on barefoot. With a guaranteed high quality standard for raw materials and production, the product range lives up to the claim of practical sustainability. NATURinFORM uses exclusively natural offcut wood from German forests and PEFC-certified suppliers, as well as environmentally friendly polymer (PE) as a binding agent. "Made in Germany" indicates that NATURinFORM verifiably produces its products exclusively in Germany. The company has been PEFC-certified since October 1, 2013, committing to 100 percent implementation and compliance with the PEFC standard. Furthermore, NATURinFORM wood-based products are durable and 100 percent recyclable, making them a sustainable building material.
