Lueb + Wolters Construction Center in Borken

Wood composite elements, combined with metal and glass, enhance the functional aesthetics of the new façade. "Step on the gas and boldly shape the future" – with this motto, the fourth generation is successfully leading the long-established Lueb + Wolters construction center into the next chapter. Driven by the vision of becoming the leading construction center in the Münsterland region, the Baier family, the owners, invested 15 million euros in a pioneering new building. A modern warehouse and logistics center, along with an innovative exhibition center, was built on a 50,000 square meter site. The company began operations at its new location at the beginning of the year – another milestone in the company's more than 120-year history.

The new Lueb + Wolters Construction Center combines modern design with functional planning. Short routes, clear presentation, optimized processes, and an expanded product range ensure a unique shopping experience. This is complemented by personalized advice supported by interactive digital information. "We want our customers to feel immediately at home when they enter the showroom," explains Managing Director Frank Schupp.

But it's not just the interior that impresses – the facade design also sets architectural accents. The functional metal facade was deliberately enhanced with wood composite elements, giving the building a warm, inviting appearance. The oak-brown Die Gestaltende xlfacade elements from the Bavarian manufacturer Naturinform were used.

Four building units with optimal structure

The new headquarters consists of four self-sufficient building units, each fulfilling its own functions:

  • Exhibition rooms with various themes
  • Social building with camp management
  • Warehouse and logistics center for maximum efficiency
  • Administration building with modern workplaces

This clear structure ensures smooth processes and short routes for customers and employees.

Innovative exhibition with an impressive range

On 2,500 square meters of exhibition space, Lueb + Wolters presents a wide variety of floor coverings, including cork, vinyl, laminate, and parquet flooring, as well as XXL, unique floorboards up to twelve meters long. Other highlights:

  • 80 functional interior doors for direct viewing and testing
  • Facade design with WPC, wood, plastic or Trespa
  • Ceramic patio tiles, wood and WPC decking

Efficient logistics center with over 10,000 items

"The heart of our company is warehousing," emphasizes Managing Director Johannes Baier. In the construction industry, speed and short-term availability are crucial – which is why Lueb + Wolters maintains a comprehensive inventory of more than 10,000 items.

Building materials and wood products are efficiently stored and provided on 21,000 square meters of storage space – consisting of two halls, a covered area, an open area and a loading area.

"We are consciously focusing on our Borken location and growing together with our customers," says Baier. At the same time, a modern and pleasant working environment has been created for our 130 employees.

High-quality facade design with wood composite material

The buildings were constructed of reinforced concrete with glued-laminated beams and fitted with sandwich elements containing polyurethane insulation and a metal skin. The combination of metal, glass, and wood composite gives the facade a modern, warm appearance.

"We wanted an industrial building that didn't appear cold or uninspired," explains Frank Schupp. "We wanted our expertise in the timber trade to be visible from the outside – so we worked with the architects at Brüninghoff to develop a concept that combines aesthetic warmth with weather resistance."

The choice fell on the high-quality wood composite material from Naturinform, which impresses with its durability, ease of care and weather resistance.

With the new building, Lueb + Wolters has made a pioneering investment – setting new architectural and functional standards in the building materials trade.

Wood composites prevail over wood

During the planning phase, the architects and client initially favored wood as the material for the balconies—both for the flooring and for privacy and sun protection. However, the inherent advantages of wood composite ultimately won them over. "Experience shows that wood performs significantly worse than wood composite in terms of durability and maintenance in weather-exposed areas such as the facade," explains architect Simon Baumann. Another decisive factor was user safety: Unlike wood, this modern material does not splinter, eliminating the risk of injuries from wood splinters.

Sun protection profile The constructive onefor privacy screens

For the privacy and sun protection elements, NaturinForm supplied a total of 8,700 linear meters of the Der Konstruktiveprofile in "light brown." The profile is smooth on four sides, without embossing or brushing. 215 privacy screens measuring 1.25 x 2.70 meters were manufactured for the balconies on the first and second floors, and 80 pieces measuring 1.25 x 3.20 meters were manufactured for the ground floor.

The elements were installed in several steps: First, prefabricated flat steel frames were delivered to the construction site. Wagner's carpentry shop in Prien screwed the 38 x 100 millimeter profiles into these. The prefabricated sun protection elements were then mounted on the steel structure of the façade.

"Producing the privacy screens was a first for us," recalls Martin Wagner, owner of the carpentry shop. Until then, he had primarily used the wood composite material for balcony and patio flooring. "Due to the high density, processing was more challenging than with wood," Wagner reports. Screwing them together was somewhat more difficult, but with the screws recommended by the manufacturer, the material could still be installed quickly.

Solid plank The compacton the balconies

DIE KOMPAKT solid planks were installed on 1,070 square meters of balconies. Because the balconies rest on a steel substructure, the flooring was constructed in several layers:

  1. 40 mm thick three-layer board made of solid spruce wood
  2. Protective fleece and sealing
  3. Rubber granulate plate as a protective layer of the seal

Originally, adjustable feet were planned for installation, but due to the low installation height, alternatives had to be found. In consultation with the NaturinForm technician, the team opted for plastic spacers as height adjustment. The aluminum profiles were then installed, to which the solid floorboards were attached using clips.

The compact: maintenance-free, weather-resistant and safe

Especially in public buildings, maintenance-free operation, weather resistance, and slip resistance are paramount. Unterhaching chose Die Kompakte, a flooring that ensures secure grip even in wet conditions. The reversible plank offers two surface options: finely grooved or with block stripes, both brushed for additional slip resistance.

Another advantage: Unlike wood, the wood composite material doesn't splinter. Furthermore, the Compactis available in standard lengths of 3, 4, 5, and 6 meters, with custom lengths between 2 and 13 meters available upon request.

Sustainable outdoor flooring and profiles – Made in Germany

NaturinForm specializes in high-quality outdoor flooring and profiles made of wood composite materials. In Redwitz an der Rodach, Upper Franconia, they manufacture WPC products that combine the look of traditional wood with the durability of a technical polymer.

Thanks to a special processing technique, the environmentally friendly, pure thermoplastic polymer envelops each wood fiber like a protective coating. This makes the material water-repellent and moisture-resistant.

Sustainability is our highest priority:

  • Production exclusively with wood fibers from domestic, sustainable forestry (PEFC-certified)
  • No additional tree felling – wood fibers are a by-product of the wood processing industry
  • 100% recyclable products – take-back and recycling by NaturinForm

NaturinForm offers Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for all floorboards and façade profiles, prepared according to international standards. The products undergo regular quality controls and stress tests to ensure consistently first-class wood-based material quality.

5-year warranty – quality you can rely on.
