Lisberg bathing island
In Lisberg-Trabelsdorf, Upper Franconia, an old carp pond was transformed into an idyllic bathing lake, whose natural charm now attracts visitors—even from Bamberg, 15 kilometers away. A special highlight of the lake is the approximately 80-square-meter bathing island. The robust and easy-care surface of the Strong decking board from NaturinForm makes it a long-lasting eye-catcher and ideal spot for sun worshippers and water lovers.

A bathing paradise in Lisberg-Trabelsdorf
In Lisberg-Trabelsdorf, an idyllic village with 2,000 residents on the edge of the Steigerwald forest, all is still in order. Here, everyone knows each other – and the Franconian beer is delicious. With 14 local breweries, the district upholds the brewing tradition.
A particularly lovely spot to enjoy a cool Trabelsdorfer Beck-Bräu is the bathing island at the former spa carp pond. Sitting on the sun-warmed wooden planks, dangling your feet in the water while the reeds gently rustle in the breeze—it's a great place to relax.
Since the former carp pond was desilted and converted into a clear swimming pond in 2009, it has attracted up to 150 visitors on warm days. The bathing island is often completely full.
When wood reaches its limits
As popular as the platform, once covered with five-centimeter-thick Douglas fir planks, was, a problem soon emerged: The wood was increasingly suffering from moisture. "More and more cracks appeared, the wood was splintering – it was very unpleasant," explains Mayor Michael Bergrab.
The constant proximity to water became a challenge. Wood absorbs splashing water, swells, and cracks. Microorganisms take hold, and algae growth makes the surface increasingly slippery. After just six years, the entire deck was in need of renovation. "The planks were even rotting in places," says Bergrab. A new solution was needed – durable, weather-resistant, and barefoot-friendly. The choice fell on Strong from NaturinForm.
Durability meets aesthetics
NaturinForm specializes in wood composites that combine the look and feel of wood with the durability of waterproof materials. Natural wood fibers are combined with an environmentally friendly polymer that wraps around each individual fiber to provide protection. The result: a splinter-free, easy-care plank that doesn't absorb water and retains its shape.
The new platform in Trabelsdorf is impressive: "What impresses us most is the surefootedness," reports Bergrab. "And at the same time, the surface feels pleasantly soft, even at the cut edges – perfect for barefoot runners."
A bathing pleasure that not only looks good but also lasts in the long term.
Maximum safety for barefoot runners
Thanks to its special material properties, NaturinForm's wood composite is particularly resistant to moisture. Even after years of direct exposure to water, the material won't splinter. Water simply beads and beads off, leaving the surface slip-resistant. In a 2011 TÜV-certified test, the planks achieved the high slip resistance rating R12 according to DIN 51130 – a decisive advantage for barefoot areas near lakes, pools, or jetties.
The Strong One – a plank for heavy loads
To maintain the look of the old Douglas fir planks, a gray finish was chosen. Strong from NaturinForm, a solid 38-millimeter-thick support plank, proved to be the perfect solution: robust, resilient, and durable. Thanks to its high load-bearing capacity, the substructure was eliminated – instead, a few stainless steel screws were sufficient to securely attach the planks to the existing joists.
Mayor Michael Bergrab draws a positive conclusion after the first summer: "The material has another advantage," he says. "It retains heat similarly to dark stone. A pleasantly warm walkway as a base, while the reeds rustle all around – it's quite heavenly."
Sustainably produced – environmentally friendly in every respect
NaturinForm consistently focuses on sustainable production. No trees are felled for its floorboards; instead, only PEFC-certified wood flour from sawmills is used. Tropical wood is not processed. The organic component of the wood composite is an environmentally friendly polyethylene.
Another advantage: NaturinForm floorboards require no environmentally harmful care products. Fungicides and pesticides are used neither in production nor during use. Furthermore, the floorboards are 100% recyclable and can be returned directly to the factory in Redwitz at the end of their service life.
